Bethlehem has a ton of history and these steel stacks are an important part of it. They have produced steel for the Golden Gate Bridge, Madison Square Garden, city skyscrapers, and most importantly the US Navy, helping in the process of winning two World Wars. These giants are still standing proud today and even though weathered and worn, they are a great reminder of strength and hard work. This photo was actually a last minute entry for a juried exhibition. I put a lot of time into it trying to create a fine art piece that portrayed character, nostalgia, and drama. I finished editing this piece a few days before the entry deadline allowing me just enough time to get it printed and shipped to me. Two hours before drop off I was matting and framing it. Definitely cutting it close. That attention to detail in the creative process and determination to get it done in time paid off as it received two awards. I was proud of it, but never expected that. I've learned long ago to work hard, do it the right way, and you'll have something to be proud of years to come. These steel stacks are a great reminder of that.
